Based on the recommendations of the University of Alabama System Task Force, the Board of Trustees believes that the 黑丝国产在线System can best fulfill its core mission of teaching, research, and service by resuming on-campus activities in the Fall 2020 semester.

Resolution

Authorizing On-Campus Activities in Fall 2020

WHEREAS, the University of Alabama System (鈥満谒抗谙逽ystem鈥�) is, first and foremost, an institution of higher education created for learning and is dedicated to being the preeminent public system of higher education and health care in the United States; and

WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, each university in the 黑丝国产在线System cancelled in-person instruction for the Spring 2020 semester and transitioned to limited business operations; and

WHEREAS, the University of Alabama (鈥淯A鈥�) cancelled in-person instruction for any Summer 2020 semester classes with a start date before June 22, 2020; and

WHEREAS, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (鈥淯AB鈥�) and University of Alabama in Huntsville (鈥淯AH鈥�) cancelled in-person instruction for all Summer 2020 semester classes; and

WHEREAS, the University of Alabama System created a task force (鈥淭ask Force鈥�) to develop plans for the three 黑丝国产在线System campuses to be the safest universities in America when on-campus activities resume; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama (鈥淏oard of Trustees鈥�) has extensively reviewed the Task Force plan for resuming on-campus activities such as in-person instruction and research; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force plan is premised on cutting-edge technology developed by UAB Health System experts, including a COVID-19 symptom tracker; and

WHEREAS, numerous other entities 鈥� including businesses, two-year and four-year universities, and K-12 schools 鈥� have requested copies of the Task Force plan to use as a model for their own plans to resume in-person activities; and

WHEREAS, based on current conditions, the Board of Trustees believes that 黑丝国产在线can safely offer a limited number of in-person classes with a start date after June 22, 2020 by following the Task Force plan and recognizes that doing so will provide valuable insight for it and the other 黑丝国产在线System campuses; and

WHEREAS, based on current conditions, the Board of Trustees believes that the 黑丝国产在线System can best fulfill its core mission of teaching, research, and service by resuming on-campus activities in the Fall 2020 semester;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees that, based on the Task Force plan, it hereby authorizes the University of Alabama to offer a limited number of in-person classes 鈥� attendance at which cannot exceed fifteen students 鈥� with a start date after June 22, 2020, and also authorizes all University of Alabama System campuses to resume on-campus activities in the Fall 2020 semester;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force continues to evaluate the latest research and guidance and update its plan as conditions require;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees will reevaluate its decision if current conditions meaningfully change.
